Rage Against The Machine

Bands like Rage Against The Machine and Nirvana were prominent throughout the 1990's and had a great influence on people's perception of things.

Rage Against The Machine formed in 1991 in Los Angeles after guitarist Tom Morello saw vocalist Zack de la Rocha performing in a small club. After approaching de la Rocha, they recruited bassist Tim Crommerford and drummer Brad Wilk and Rage Against The Machine was born. They are noted for blending heavy metal and funk to create an amazing sound. This coupled with their revolutionary lyrics and politics make Rage Against The Machine one of the most unique and influential bands ever.



"Bullet in the Head" is a song by political rap metal band Rage Against the Machine from their first album in 1992. A very popular song and one of the album's heaviest tracks, "Bullet in the Head" refers to the band's belief that the government uses media to control the population. The song features many of Tom Morello's unique guitar techniques such as using the toggle switch to turn the guitar on and off rapidly.



Nirvana



Nirvana was a band that included singer/guitarist Kurt Cobain and bassist Krist Novoselic in Aberdeen, Washington and was started in 1987. This band had huge hits in the 90's. One of them was Smells Like Teen Spirit which was created in 1991. This band mainly had alternative rock/grunge music which was the new hit genre in the mid - 90's. Their main audience was the X generation(Born in 1965-1976). Nirvana signed to DGC Records in 1990, which lead them to their greatest success. One of their most popular albums is Nevermind.

"Smells Like Teen Spirit" is widely interpreted to be a teen revolution anthem, an interpretation reinforced by the song's music video. In an interview, Cobain said he wanted to show how people his around his age felt.

The Foo Fighters assembled their band in 1995. The foundation of the Foo Fighters includes the death of Kurt Cobain, the lead singer of Nirvana. David Grohl, former drummer of Nirvana, contained original songs at home that never received public release. These public songs were the roots of the Foo Fighters. The Foo Fighter's music included loud, heavy guitars with melodies and mixed punk. The name "Foo Fighters" was derived off of a World War 2 secrete force that researched UFOs. They also signed a contract with Capital records. The Foo Fighters instantly became extremely successful due to the positive impact on the public. The public found this new type of music entertaining and enjoyed listening to it.
